The Extra Ingredient

Summer Salads

Salads are year-round fare, but especially desirable in the summer when gardens and farmers' markets overflow with the best produce of the year. It's a great time to embrace "Buy Fresh, Buy Local," and salads are a natural choice for the fresh harvests underway now.

IN THIS ISSUE, we feature three salads with delicious, fresh dressings that sparkle and bring out the best in all the ingredients. Salads beg for improvisation, play the plate with choices of whatever is around - there are no wrong combinations!

Bring a Bag!
Bring a Bag, Feed a Family

Our Bring a Bag, Feed a Family Campaign has been a great success! Since the campaign started in late 2009, we have collected over $1211 for Greensboro's Urban Ministry Food Bank!

Every time a customer makes a purchase and brings their own shopping bag, a dime is put in the "Feed a Family" cookie jar.
The contents of the jar are then donated to the Greensboro Urban Ministry Food Bank. This allows us to help the environment by using fewer disposable bags, and also help Greensboro's families in need!
