Real Biscuits

News Flash! - Biscuits don't naturally come in a can! Real biscuits are fresh, fluffy and flaky -- perhaps topped with butter, jam or honey. They're the kind of experience that makes you close your eyes and swoon as you take the first bite.

IN THIS ISSUE, we're baking biscuits and thoroughly enjoying the difference that baking from scratch makes in their flavor (and cost). They are super easy to make once a few basics are understood. We'll start with a traditional baking powder biscuit, then apply those skills to two variations, a pumpkin biscuit, and a pimento cheese biscuit. Yum!

A couple of our favorite recent posts on Facebook:

Sep 20 - Tip of the Day: If the berries you bring home from the store lack the perfume and flavor you hoped for, try adding a couple drops of rose water. Rose water also makes perfectly ripe, flavorful berries even more luscious.

Sep 18 - Tip of the Day: Store honey in an airtight container at room temperature. Honey is hygroscopic, meaning it attracts moisture. If the jar is left open, the honey can absorb water from the air, causing yeast to grow and ferment the honey's sugars. Cold temperatures cause honey to crystallize. To get back to liquid form, put the jar in warm (not boiling) water until the crystals dissolve.
