Light and delicate, sweet or savory, crepes are realizing a renaissance and gaining renewed appreciation as an impressive, yet deceptively easy entree or dessert presentation.

 

IN THIS ISSUE, we're joining the crepe revival by delving into the basics of making crepes, then enjoying them folded in a sweet citrusy crepe, a savory seafood crepe, then stacked in a very remarkable Gateau de Crepes. Crepes beg for improvisation and we get you started with some inspirational ideas.

Tip of the Day: Leave strawberry hulls intact until after you rinse the berries or they'll become waterlogged. Keep all of you berries well chilled. Remove any that are soft or moldy, as one rotten berry can spoil the whole basket.

Wouldn't it be nice to taste food that tastes good? With a gluten free diet that makes it difficult at times. Leah Nelsen will share some wonderful recipes to help feed you and your family with food that tastes good again.

Comprehending Blending
If you have a vitamix, blendtec, or other amazing blender you don't want to miss this amazing class with Resident Chef JaDene Denniston. She will be making many things besides a smoothie as she shows you how versatile this machine can be. Get the most out of your kitchen blender when attend this class.

Tuesday, April 23 - 6:30 p.m.
Necessary Knife Skills: Hands-On with Dinner
If you like to cook, you need to be able to handle the most classic and important of the chef's tools. Chef Robert Sanderson will help you master all the basic cutting skills like mince, julienne, dice, etc. as you learn the technique to handling your knife. You will also be taught how to select a knife and how to keep it in good working order. This is a Hands-On class so bring one of your knives.

Thursday, April 25 - 6:30 p.m.
Perfect Under Pressure: Electric Pressure Cooking
Couldn't we all use a little more time in the day? With the electric pressure cooker in your kitchen you can cut down on your time spent in the kitchen so you can spend more time out of the kitchen. Resident Chef, JaDene Denniston has all the tools you'll need to master this appliance. It's soon to become your favorite.

Superb Summer Salads
We have a special guest chef coming to Logan. Chef Todd Leonard, currently chef instructor at UVU, has always loved to cook. He will be teaching two classes. The morning class will be Superb Summer Salad where he will teach some different salads and how to make your own dressing, as well as some fun tricks to make them a little extra special. The afternoon class will be "Perfect Pasta and Sauces" His flair and enthusiasm are contagious. Don't miss this great opportunity to learn from the best!
