Aug 26: Tip of the Day: To reuse cooking oil without tasting whatever was cooked in the oil previously, cook a 1/4-inch piece of ginger in the oil. It will remove any remaining flavors and odors. 

 

Aug 25: Tip of the Day: When making a soup, sauce, or casserole that ends up too fatty or greasy, drop in an ice cube. The ice will attract the fat, which you can then scoop out.

Thursday, September 8 - Using Your Summer Squash - 6:30 p.m.  

We do it every year.  Plant zucchini and squash.  All of the sudden the harvest comes and....what do we do with it all!  Tiffany Jeppsen has solved this problem for us.  Delicious recipes that we will crave and will use up all of our summer squash.  Next year, you'll be planting extra squash!

 

Friday, September 9 - Eat Light & Love It - 6:30 p.m. 

Weight control doesn't have to involve deprivation and bland flavors.  Sport's Academy's Registered Dietician and personal trainer, Mary Dimmick will demonstrate how to make low-calorie dishes that everyone will love and want to eat! In addition get a 20-plus recipe handout!  As part of the well-balanced cooking series, this class will feature how to cook with a healthy balance of simplicity, flavor, affordability, nutrition , and indulgence.  Sign up today!

 

Tuesday, September 13 - Harvest Dinner - 6:30 p.m.  

The fall harvest produced some of the most delicious food of the year.  In this class, Chef Robert Sanderson will take advantage of the seasonal produce in this five-star quality dinner.  These are incredible recipes that are sure to make an appearance at your dinner table in the fall each year.

 

Wednesday, September 14 - Hands On Whole Wheat Bread - 1:00 p.m. 

Come learn from our in-store instructor how to make delicious wheat bread using freshly ground wheat flour.  Instructor will also demonstrate how to make our cinnamon/currant variation.  Includes pan and one loaf of bread to take home.  

 

Thursday, September 15 - Brown Bag Lunches - 6:30 p.m. 

Packing a lunch day after day can be a daunting task when you have a child in school.  Tiffany Jeppsen can help with easy, simple recipes for Mom that the kids will love!  This year, send your kids to school with healthy, fun, and delicious brown bag lunches.  Make sure they're getting the nutrition they need to be at their best!

 

Saturday, September 17 - Holiday Candymaking - 11:00 a.m. 

Candymaking is one of the best parts of the holiday season.  This year, make professional candies right in your own home with the help of expert candymaker, Ruth Kendrick.  Wether you give candy as gifts or just make it for your family to enjoy, don't miss out on this class with tips and tricks to make sure your candy is a success!

 

Tuesday, September 20 - Grinding All Your Grains in the Nutrimill - 6:30 p.m.

Crepes can be a tricky food to pull off without any problems in the kitchen.  They can tear, the fillings can be too soggy, you name it.  In this class Natalie Straatman has recipes for perfect crepes and delicious fillings that will not cause you any frustrations in the kitchen!  Don't miss out on tips, tricks, and recipes that will have you whipping up a batch of crepes at the drop of a hat!
