Thanksgiving comes early this year! This means there's a little more space between the many special days this holiday season. But, don't be fooled, the next few weeks will be flying by! We're here to help you plan ahead and enjoy this special season to the max!

 

IN THIS ISSUE, It's all about enjoying Thanksgiving, a uniquely American holiday. We start with a fabulous roasted turkey, show you how to carve it, then tackle a unique stuffing, and a dressed-up side dish of green beans. You'll find plenty of turkey tips and more tips for a delicious Thanksgiving!

Cooking ClassesSEAFOOD APPETIZERS
Monday, November 5, 2012 - 6:30 pm, $40
Matt Lancaster, Chef - The House of Wines, Devola
Matt is already making a name for himself with his fresh, new menu at The House of Wines. He'll introduce you to a variety of seafood
appetizers including oysters, mussels, and more, just in time for holiday entertaining. Having last worked in Boston, and with seafood as one of his specialties, we anticipate this will be a very informative and fun class! Class is limited to 16.

GINGERBREAD WORKSHOP
Sunday, November 11, 2012 - 2:00 pm
$50 ($65 for a parent and child)
Gayle Shank and Dagmar Kupsche - The Cook's Shop
Learn how to make and roll perfect gingerbread. Each participant will receive prepared pieces for a gingerbread house along with building and decorating techniques and designs. We'll supply the decorations, but you're free to bring your own if you want to add something special. Best of all, you'll take home a completed Gingerbread House! Class is limited to 12 gingerbread houses. Children 8 - 14 must be accompanied by an adult, children 15 and older may attend by themselves. Adults, who are children at heart, are welcome to attend on their own! Everyone will go home with a completed gingerbread house.

Tuesday, November 13, 2012 - 6:00 pm, $55Cooking Classes
Ed Bartush, Wusthof Knives Sales Rep.
Ed will discuss knife construction, metal composition and sharpening. He'll also demonstrate proper cutting techniques along with a few tips and tricks that you can use in your own kitchen. You'll learn to properly cut onions and tomatoes, de-bone a chicken, carve a chicken or turkey and make an apple swan garnish! Best of all, you'll get your own Wusthof Classic paring knife to use and take home. This knife retails for $49.95 and has been given a "Highly Recommended" rating by Cooks Magazine - their highest rating. This is a hands-on class limited to 16. Prior to class, Ed will be available to sharpen your knives for $2 each. All proceeds will be donated to the Suicide Prevention Coalition of Washington County.

TIS THE SEASON.......HOLIDAY BAKING

Gayle will present a number of no fuss, make ahead holiday sweets that are ideal to both give as gifts or take to parties. Class is limited to 16.
