Cooking Classes at the Cook_s ShopGRILLING WITH DAVE  - SOLD OUT!
Monday, July 17, 2017 - 6:30pm, $45
Dave Rudie - Chef, Parkersburg Country Club
Dave will fire up the BBQs on our patio and beguile you with his grilling skills. He'll teach you how to grill a perfect steak; marinade, grilling, and resting. He will also grill some veggies, portabellas, even lemons for "grilled lemonade". He'll whip up a watermelon salad and teach you how spatchcock a chicken! Class is limited to 16.  
 
PIZZA ON THE GRILL - High Demand Repeat!

Jerry Bedilion - Foodie, French and English Teacher, Warren Schools
Those who know Jerry know him for his love of teaching French and English in the Warren school system. He is also an avid gardener and a food aficionado. Join us for what has always been a very entertaining hands-on class with fabulous pizza! We'll be baking in both charcoal and gas grills outside on the patio. Recipes will include: The Perfect Dough, fresh Garden Sauce, and a special olive oil mixture to brush on your crust. Mangier! Everyone will have the chance to roll their own dough and make their own pizza. Class is limited to 14. Sign up early to guarantee a spot!

SUMMER MEATBALLS

Dave will center this class around "little bites" of fabulous proteins to accompany any summertime meal. Beef, chicken, lamb, and vegetarian. Dave will also throw in an Italian Wedding Soup! Class is limited to 16.

These new tips are all over YouTube! What makes them unique is the way they allow you to create flowers with just one pull of a pastry bag. Learn tips and techniques for the perfect buttercream frosting, coloring it and how to fill your pastry bag with the layers of color that make these flowers look so real. This is a HANDS ON class. Class is limited to 14.

Learn how to properly purchase seafood and what to stay away from. Farm raised or wild caught? Dagmar will cover four different techniques of cooking four different types of seafood. The menu will be posted as we get closer to class time based on seafood availability. Class is limited to 16.

CHEF SHOWDOWN THROWDOWN V - SOLD OUT!

Our own version of the TV show Chopped, we're pitting two of our favorite local chefs against each other and the clock. They will each be given two baskets full of unknown ingredients, one for an entree, the other a dessert! You will be the judge, tasting, grading and awarding the title of Top Chef of The Cook's Shop! This will be the fifth time we've held this class/event - it seems to be more fun each time! You're encouraged to heckle, ask questions, make suggestions, post to Facebook, and take pictures, tweet, text and email throughout the evening. This will be a lot of fun for all involved. This year we're hoping to have a surprise guest MC! Class is limited to 16, sign up early to guarantee your seat!

BAGELS, BISCUITS AND ENGLISH MUFFINS

In this class you'll learn to make quick and simple biscuits along with traditional English muffins and boiled bagels (no bagel pans in this class!). Recipe variations for the addition of things like raisins, cinnamon and others will be covered. Class is limited to 16.

OCTOBER 2017 

KNIFE SKILLS - HANDS ON!
 
Friday, October 13, 2017 - 6:00 pm, $55
Ed Bartush - Wusthof Knives Sales Rep.
Ed will discuss knife construction, metal composition and sharpening. He'll also demonstrate proper cutting techniques along with a few tips and tricks that you can use in your own kitchen. You'll learn to properly cut onions and tomatoes, de-bone a chicken, carve a chicken or turkey and make an apple swan garnish! Best of all, you'll get your own Wusthof Classic paring knife to use and take home. This knife retails for $50 and has been given a "Highly Recommended" rating by Cooks Magazine! This is a hands-on class limited to 14. Prior to class, Ed will be available to sharpen your knives for $2 each.

KNIFE SHARPENING 
Friday, October 13, 2017 - 5:30 to 6:00 pm, $2 per knife. You don't have to be taking the class to have your knives sharpened, open to all. Remember to take extra care bringing your knives home, it's Friday the 13th!

THE COOK'S SHOP'S THIRD ANNUAL VENDOR DAY 
Saturday, October 14, 2017 - 1:00 to 4:00 pm 
Mark your calendars now for what has become our favorite day of the year. We'll be entertaining you with product demonstrations, door prizes (over $1,000 in merchandise last year!), special sales and food samples. Representatives from Wusthof, Le Creuset, Chantal, Joseph Joseph, Kyocera, Nordic Ware, Cole & Mason, Zyliss, Corkcicle, Epicurean, Kuhn Rikon and more will be on hand to answer questions and discuss their newest products. This is not a class, but is free and open to the public. See you there!
