Red peppers are grown everywhere here and folks visiting will generally see them hanging out to dry at most households.  It is used very often in the food here to add flavor and spice. Vegetables and all sorts of wild herbs that grow in the rocks of the landscape are often used here as well to make the meals more fragrant and flavorful.  Menu: Maccheroni di Fuoco ~ a spicy Bucatini pasta simply made with dried cayenne peppers, salt, extra virgin olive oil, and garlic ● Tortiera di Baccala ~ a dried cod stew with lemon, potatoes, and crushed red pepper ● Cappelle di Fungi al Forno ~ red pepper and garlic spiced roasted mushroom caps ● Frittelle alla Lucana ~ a fried semolina flour dough topped with powdered sugar
